How fees work

Fees for a psychiatric visit depend on your plan and on how you pay. Here is how each option works.

  • Insurance we work with

We are in network with some plans and out of network with others. Medicare and Medi-Cal: call us before you book and we will tell you what we can do. The practice's own list of plans goes here.

    • Some PPO plans

    • Some employer-sponsored plans

  • If you pay yourself

If you pay yourself, we give you your fee in writing before your first visit. Cards, including HSA and FSA cards, work like any other. A limited number of reduced-fee visits may be available, so ask. Please cancel or reschedule at least a day ahead.

  • Receipts for reimbursement

If we are out of network with your plan, we give you an itemized receipt (a superbill) each month that you may send to your plan. It carries a diagnosis code your plan will see, and your plan decides what, if anything, it reimburses.

  • An estimate in advance

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the cost before your first visit, and we give one in writing. If a bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.

  • Checking your benefits

Before your first visit the office checks your benefits and tells you what we expect your plan to cover and what you may owe. The final word is your plan's.

Questions about paying.

Can I use my HSA or FSA card?

Yes. HSA and FSA cards work like any other payment card.

What does a cancellation cost?

Please cancel or reschedule at least a day ahead. The cancellation notice is on your confirmation, and the practice sets what a late cancellation costs.

Will I know what a visit costs before I come in?

Yes. The office gives you a written estimate in advance if you pay without insurance, and checks your benefits first if you have a plan.

Where can I read about my rights?

The federal No Surprises Act explains your right to a Good Faith Estimate. The link is in the estimate answer above.

The door is open.

Send a message and the office will reply with a time, what to bring and how billing works.
